Since first reading Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles in the 80s I've been influenced by her writing and her characters. Not just the vampires, but those from her novels
A Feast of All Saints and Cry to Heaven.
She wrote about controversial subjects with grace and humanity. And she wasn’t afraid to show queer love and intimacy in a time when that was rare.
The Vampire Lestat stands out as a novel that took great risks and that was profoundly different in tone from her first and most famous work, Interview with the Vampire. In it, she tells the story of Lestat, a vampire who embraces his nature and lives his un-life to the absolute fullest.
Lestat was such a breath of fresh air after Louis and his introspective moral quandaries. I fell in love with this character and have been watching Sam Reid bring him to life so well.
I'm so very excited to see what AMC does with this novel!
