A Flash of Golden Fire
“There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in our philosophy.”
~ William Shakespeare, Hamlet
Simon White, the son of British missionaries on the island of Jamaica, finds himself at the age of 22, destitute and without recourse to occupation. He bargains his way onto the ‘privateer’ vessel, The Arrow, captained by ex-navy officer Dinesh Martin. Although Dinesh seeks to separate himself from the world of cutthroat pirates who roam the Caribbean, he has no official business with any country and heads a crew of diverse men with a penchant for blood and gold.
Simon is new to this strange and brutal life, but finds a surprising ally in the aloof and brusque Captain Martin, as the two men realize that they share many of the same proclivities and find themselves undeniably drawn together, in a community that doesn’t care about alternative forms of affection.
But Simon has a secret, and the strange scar that covers his lower back and hip is evidence of a power that defies understanding. When the Captain’s life is in danger, Simon’s strange abilities show themselves and it becomes clear that he is connected to unseen forces.
Can Simon, affectionately nicknamed “Rooster” by Captain Martin due to his red hair, handle the repercussions of holding this kind of power? And can his intense feelings for Dinesh truly be reciprocated?
Whatever happens, Simon’s life is irrevocably changed by his adventures. And so are the lives of Captain Dinesh Martin and his crew.
Simon White bargains his way onto the Arrow, captained by ex-navy officer-turned-privateer, Dinesh Martin.
Something evil is calling to Simon in his dreams. Something that lives in the dark depths of the ocean and has a connection to Simon's awakened powers.
Captain Martin and Simon must take the Arrow and her crew around Cape Horn to reach their destiny. If they don't perish first.
